We are spending many hours behind the scenes working towards a gas lease. We have several irons in the fire, so don’t assume because things seem quiet that everything is at a standstill.
We are working with the Columbia County Landowners Coalition.

We have incorporated our data base with the rest of Luzerne County. This makes it much easier to manage and to get a map of our area to send to the gas companies. We have deleted those properties that do not have both a SWRT agreement and a CCLOC form submitted. Requiring both forms lets us know that better who is still with our group. The amount of acreage in our Ross township group has actually grown in 2009.
We have discovered that many properties have a “mismatch” between the acres shown on their deeds and the amount that the county has in their records (property tax data). The county has rejected gas leases because of these mismatches and people are not getting paid for their leases. It is up to each property owner to contact a lawyer and resolve any discrepancies.
